About Our Church

Foothills Bible Church consists of three anchors: people, prayer, and purpose.

People

I Peter 4:8

We strive to create and maintain a family atmosphere, where every person feels accepted, loved, and appreciated.  We believe that every person’s story matters.  We don’t just want to know your name; we want to get to know you.  Our leadership team is easily accessible by phone or email, and is committed to addressing the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of every member of our church body.

Prayer

I Thessalonians 5:17

Prayer is how we connect to God, commune with God, and move God to action on our behalf.  At Foothills Bible Church, we live to pray, and we love to pray. We believe that God not only hears us when we pray but promises to answer every one of our prayers according to His will (I John 5:14-15).

Purpose

Esther 4:14

Just as God has a specific plan for each of us as individuals, we believe that God has placed Foothills Bible Church in Northeast Anchorage, at this time in history, for a strategic purpose.  Every message we preach, every ministry we create, and every decision we make is centered around one goal, taking as many people to heaven with us.

Our Beliefs

The following are the core, spiritual beliefs of Foothills Bible Church.  They are based on the foundational truths found in the Bible, and all of our ministry and teaching are rooted in these Biblical doctrines.

God

There is one eternally existing God who has three, distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Matthew 28:19, Colossians 1:16, Hebrews 13:8

Revelation

God has revealed Himself to us through His Son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, the holy scriptures, and through all of creation itself.

John 1:14, Romans 1:20

Mankind

Humans, both male and female, were created in God’s image for His glory.  The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and designated by God to be stewards of all of His creation.

Genesis 1:27-28

The Fall

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, sin entered the world.  Adam and Eve became distorted images of God and fell out of perfect fellowship with Him.  Mankind became alienated from God.

Genesis 3:1-24, Romans 5:12, Colossians 1:21

Salvation

Because God is redemptive, He did not want the story to end in the garden.  Therefore, He sent His Son Jesus to reconcile us back to Him.  Jesus became flesh and blood, just like us, but unlike us lived a perfect life without sin.  He then was crucified on a cross, becoming the perfect sacrifice for all our sin.  God raised Jesus from the dead and He now sits at the right hand of God the Father.  Because of God’s grace through His Son Jesus, we can receive the free gift of eternal life in heaven, by simply declaring with our lips that Jesus is Lord and believing that God raised Him from the dead.  That is why salvation can only come through Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:24-26, Titus 2:14, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9, Acts 4:12

Resurrection

Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge the living and the dead and to establish God’s Kingdom on earth.

Acts 1:11, Revelation 21:1-8
