WANT TOs v’s HAVE TOs. It generally makes you feel good when you are able to meet someone’s legitimate need, such as helping a person move, taking a meal to someone who just had a baby, or fixing your kid’s bike. But this positive feeling quickly turns to frustration and resentment, the moment you start sensing you’re being taken for granted or advantage of. Nothing will steal your joy faster than Obligational Love. You would be better off to not do something at all, than to do it out of guilt or expectation. Make a point today, to start eliminating the Have To’s from your life. It’s a Blessing to be Wanted, but a Burden to be Needed.
